Mann Link Travel Ltd has been appointed as the official Isle of Man ticket and travel provider for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. The news was announced by the Isle of Man Commonwealth Games Association which is the organisation responsible for the publicity, fundraising, travel and support for Team Isle of Man’s participation at the Games. Mann Link Travel Ltd, which was founded in 1982, is now the Isle of Man’s leading travel company and part of the Online Regional Travel Group. Brian Kelly, CEO at Mann Link Travel Ltd, said:
“We are delighted to once again be appointed as the official Isle of Man ticket and travel provider for the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games and continue a long and successful record in this role going back to the 1980s. We will have direct access to event tickets which allows us to offer Isle of Man residents full travel, accommodation and ticket packages to Glasgow 2014.”
Juliet Holt, President of the Isle of Man Commonwealth Games Association, said:
“Representing the Isle of Man at the Commonwealth Games is a proud moment for all competitors, and with Glasgow being so close it could be a unique opportunity for family and friends of team members to travel to the Games to see them represent the Island. It’s also a great chance for any spectators who want to support Team Isle of Man to experience the unique atmosphere of the Commonwealth Games, and with the experience and expertise provided by Mann Link Travel getting to the Games has never been easier.”
The Isle of Man will be one of 71 nations competing in Glasgow between July 23 and August 3, 2014. According to figures from Global Television and Sunset+Vine - host broadcasters for the Games - more than one billion TV viewers could be watching. Manx competitors won two bronze medals at the last Games in Delhi in 2010 - shooter Tim Kneale in the double trap event and cyclist Mark Christian in the points race on the track. But hopes are high that our team can exceed that tally next year.
