IOM Great School Run, Powered by Microgaming

by isleofman.com 14th June 2013

Microgaming has stepped in as main sponsor for the Isle of Man Great School Run, which is being held on Monday 17th June at the NSC.

The Great School Run programme is used at schools across the UK with the aim to encourage children to take part in fun exercise and to boost physical activity within schools. The programme is aimed at 5-11 year olds, at any level of ability, and is now in its 9th year.

This year’s local event will see over 850 school children take part in the 2km fun run. The run is being held at the NSC athletics track and starts at 10am on Monday 17th June with the help of the Department of Community, Culture and Leisure, Sports Development Unit. All participants will receive a medal on the finish line; Microgaming has supplied the medals to ensure that the children have a souvenir to take away from the event.

The Great School Run programme is overseen by Nova, a company which specialises in mass participation sporting events. Nova has confirmed that Helen Clitheroe, a current Great British athlete and long-distance runner will be attending this year’s run as an event Ambassador.

Roger Raatgever, CEO of Microgaming, comments: “As a company that is inherently passionate about sport, we are delighted to be asked to step in as sponsor for this year’s event. It is encouraging to see that so many children will be taking part in the fun run and I look forward to seeing all the participants cross the line on Monday morning!”
