A key event to mark the 125th anniversary celebrations of the Henry Bloom Noble Healthcare Trust has sold out.
The Trust is marking the anniversary with a black tie Diamond Dinner on July 19, where guests will enjoy a Champagne reception, three course meal and musical entertainment during the evening. Fittingly, the event will be held at the Villa Marina, which money bequeathed by Henry Bloom Noble helped establish.
With the Diamond Dinner still some weeks away, the Trust has confirmed all tickets have now been sold. Not only does the 125th anniversary provide an opportunity to reflect on the work undertaken thanks to the bequests and donations of supporters, it will also help raise awareness of the Trust’s invaluable support for healthcare in the Island.
Chairman of the Trustees Larry Keenan said:
“Over the past 125 years, through generous bequest and donations, the Trust has acquired assets which allow the Trustees to purchase equipment, support training and provide for health education initiatives.”
“Every year the Trust provides, on average, in excess of ?100,000, and this money provides healthcare provision to the Island which would not otherwise be available. It makes a real difference to those who are sick or infirm”
“In recent years, as well as supporting the medical serves at Noble’s Isle of Man Hospital, the Charity has provided support to Hospice, the Ambulance Service, the Children’s Centre and individuals. For the Trustees, it is not just funding necessary equipment, it is also looking at the longer term health issues by supporting directed health education programmes.”
Mr Keenan added:
“This has only been possible by the kindness of individuals who have experienced at first hand, themselves or through a relative or friend, medical care and support, some of which may have been provided through the support of this long-established Manx charity.”
“At the Diamond Dinner, and other events to mark the 125th anniversary, we will not only celebrate the work the Trust has done, but also highlight the need for ongoing support through bequests and donations to allow the Trustees to continue providing the equipment, training and education which can make real differences to the lives of people living here in the Isle of Man.”
The Trust has also launched its new-look website, hbnhealthcaretrust.org.im, with information about its work and history, case studies and how to apply for funding. Mr Keenan said the website will be an important tool for increasing awareness of what the Trust does and how people can support it.
The Trust was established in 1888 following the death of Henry Bloom Noble’s wife Rebecca. After his death in 1909, the Trust became a statutory body and today its remit is to support public and private healthcare organisations and initiatives in the Island.
The fortune Noble bequeathed to the Island was used to establish landmarks like Noble’s Hospital, the Villa Marina, St Ninian’s Church, Noble’s Park and Ramsey Cottage Hospital, as well as Trust. The ongoing generosity of donors and benefactors allows the Trust to continue helping to provide high quality healthcare services in the Isle of Man 125 years on.
The Trust’s anniversary will also be marked with a special event at Government House on November 7, with more details to be announced soon.
