Three locals to receive Queen’s Birthday Honours

by isleofman.com 15th June 2013

Former Chief Minister Tony Brown says receiving an OBE is a great honour for him, his wife, family and his supporters in Castletown over the years.

He's among three local people who have been honoured in this year's Queen's Birthday honours list.

Douglas Council leader and magistrate David Christian has received the MBE for services to Douglas Borough, whilst Terry Chilcott was awarded the BEM for his work with the Manx Stroke Foundation.

Mr Brown, who received the award for public and political service, says he's always enjoyed his work - both in politics over nearly four decades and with charities - and hopes he has made some sort of positive difference over the years.
