Gardens: a mixed exhibition of work by Marg Hewson and friends

by isleofman.com 17th June 2013
The latest exhibition at the Sayle Gallery promises to be an oasis of calm after the excitement of TT with a wide variety of work on the theme of ‘Gardens’.

Marg Hewson has put together contributions from over twenty of her friends and fellow artists, including paintings, photographs, sculptures and pots, and even specially constructed garden furniture.

“Some of the contributors regularly exhibit in galleries around the Island,” says Marg, “but I was particularly keen to include others who are equally talented, but a bit more shy about putting their work on show.  So you’ll find paintings by Catherine James, Nancy Corkish and David Byrne alongside wildlife photographs by Chris Ollett, quilts from Mary Butt and stunning flower arrangements.”

There is a ‘garden party’ feel about the exhibition, with Hazel Walsh’s related installation and  ‘Wearable Art’ hats by Sarah Hendy, as well as bird baths and toadstools, and even garden gnomes.

Location: The Sayle Gallery, Villa Marina Arcade, 1-3 Harris Promenade, Douglas, IM1 2HN
Opening times: 10am – 5pm Tue – Sat, 1.30 – 4.30pm Sundays, 1pm – 5pm Mondays
Admission: FREE
