Cooper scuppered in Scotland

by isleofman.com 19th June 2013
Cal Cooper was left to wonder what might have been after he was unceremoniously dumped out of the BSB 600 Superstock race with less than a lap completed of the 1.2 mile Knockhill circuit in Scotland on Sunday.

Racing an R6 Yamaha for his new team, CF Motorsport  for the first time, Cooper, the lanky 17 year old from the Isle of Man, was taken out at the Hairpin while holding fourth place in the 22-lap race, the perpetrator also going into the gravel trap.

Having grabbed the prime spot on the second row of the grid after qualifying fourth just .4 of a second off pole on his first visit to the track on a 600, Cooper, supported by the IoM Sports Institute via Duke Video, was looking promising after setting third fastest time in warm up.

Said Cal: ‘I was looking for a good result for myself and the team and I was gutted when I was forced off the track.  I was feeling really comfortable and knew I had the pace to stay up front.
‘The team were brilliant all weekend and a big thank you them for all their hard work and encouragement.’

Cooper also expressed his thanks to Paul Dedman Performance Ltd, Dean Teversham Roofing of Dorset, Arai, and RSTLeathers.
