Crossroads Celebrates 25 Years at Crogga Castle!

by isleofman.com 20th June 2013

Crossroads Care is hosting a Garden Party at Crogga Castle as part of their 25th Anniversary celebrations on Saturday 10th August 2013.

The Party, at Crogga, also known as the Manx Fairy Tale Castle, will be a day with activities for all ages. Between 10 am and 12 pm will be the ‘family friendly’ time, when there will be a magician, puppeteers, face painting, lawn games and a selection of fayre ground foods to feast on.

There will also be opportunities to ride on the Crogga Valley Railway which takes you around the vast grounds at the Crogga Estate. The Crogga Valley Railway boasts a selection of smaller replicas of the train engines similar to those of the Isle of Man Steam Railway, providing a rare opportunity to see the beautiful grounds that Crogga sits in as well as seeing the house itself.

Between 1 and 4.30 pm will be time for the grown ups, with adult afternoon tea served on the lawns and a BBQ available. There will also be a rare opportunity to have a tour of the house by the current owner Mr Beauman. Built in the 1870’s, Crogga is steeped in history. As well as the tours you will be able to ride the train, take a boat ride on the lake and there will be entertainment from Rushen Silver Band.

Annabel Chambers, Fundraising Co-ordinator for Crossroads Care, said: ‘We are so thankful to the Beauman family for opening up their home at Crogga Castle for this event and for allowing attendees such a rare opportunity to see the beautiful grounds and the house itself. The day promises to be fun filled with plenty to keep everyone entertained! Special thanks also to our sponsors for the day, including Permanent Bank, I-Cap, Thornton Associates, ITWorks and Rushen Silver Band. With their support all monies raised on the day will go straight to funding the important services of Crossroads Care.’

To avoid the traffic you can also travel to Crogga Castle in style by taking the train with Isle of Man Steam Railway, with trains departing Douglas Station at 9.50 am, with Mr Beaver to greet children off the train Crogga and the next train departing 12.50 pm. Train fare included in ticket price for morning and afternoon events. There will also be limited car parking available for those who wish to drive to Crogga Castle, which is found on the Old Castletown Road.
