Parking warning from Peel RNLI

by isleofman.com 20th June 2013

Following the thoughtless parking of three cars and boat trailers near and on Peel RNLI slipway the station has issued a warning about parking.

The hatched area around Peel station is there to allow space for Peel RNLI lifeboat to manoeuvre during launching and recovery.

On Tuesday night Peel police had to be called after three boat owners left cars and trailers in the hatched area including one on the top of the slipway used for launching the lifeboat. Deputy coxswain and mechanic Paul Cain said "if any of these owners had indeed got into difficulty it was likely that the Peel lifeboat would not have been able launch to help them."

The public are asked to respect the hatched safety area and use common sense when parking vehicles in and around the Peel station or stricter monitoring will be applied. Two large notices inform the public about parking in the area, these are being ignored on a regular basis.
