On Friday, April 26th two members of staff, Rebecca Eales of the ICM Group and Jenny Weckwerth of ICM Aviation, volunteered their skills, time and talents to help a local Manx founded and registered charity, Capstone International Aid. They used one of two volunteer days that ICM staff are allocated each year to help a local charity.
Capstone International Aid brings aid to victims of poverty, destitution or disaster throughout the world and sometimes partners with other internationally focused charitable organisations with similar objectives. Capstone also trains and equips people to bring aid and relief to those in need.
Rebecca, a senior accountant for the ICM Group told us:
‘Jenny and I were so glad that we were able to help Capstone and really enjoyed our day – it definitely threw up a few new challenges for us which was great!’
Capstone Trustee and Secretary, Jan Kirkham commented:
‘Both girls were an absolute credit to ICM, being very friendly, exceptionally helpful and totally committed to the planned administrative tasks. They both worked extremely hard throughout the day and with great patience and much skill, completed all the administrative tasks we set for them. ‘
Capstone is currently running fundraising appeals to buy equipment for the following projects:
• Romanian Fire and Emergency Medical Services - ?5,000 to purchase a fire engine to help develop emergency services in Bratca, Bihor and ?25,000 to purchase an aerial ladder fire engine for Oradea, Bihor.
• Romanian ‘House of Joy’ Children’s Home - ?2,000 required to provide basic kitchen and dining facilities for this children’s home in Oradea.
