Following a report of a bedroom fire crews responded from Douglas Station to a property at White Hoe.
On arrival crews were met by a responsible person on scene who stated that there was a bed on fire on the first floor of the property. He stated that he had tackled the fire using a CO2 extinguisher and believed the fire was out.
Having ensured the fire was completely out the crew proceeded to ventilate the premise using the Positive Pressure ventilation fan. Once clear the cause of the fire was investigated and found to be a damaged charging cable that had been disconnected from the unit but left switched on at the socket. This cable was left lying on the top of the bed where arcing in the damaged cable caused the bed sheet to ignite.
