Prison officers have to be protected

by isleofman.com 24th June 2013

The head of the Island’s prison service says they will always press for prosecution if staff are assaulted.

Alison Gomme was speaking after a 32 year-old man was jailed for life for attacking a prison officer in January this year.

Steven Eric Galloway was sentenced on Friday after being charged with seven offences, including making a threat to kill or cause serious injury, assault and conspiracy to supply drugs.

Prison governor Ms Gomme said it was a serious, premeditated and unprovoked attack.
