It’s emerged government workers were offered cheap tickets to the Isle of Man Festival just four days ago.
Yesterday, organisers called off the event which was due to be headlined by Paloma Faith, Primal Scream and Johnny Marr on July 6 in Noble’s Park.
All government staff received an email offering them a ?10 discount on normal tickets and ?20 off VIP tickets.
They were told they could pick up the cheap tickets at the Villa Marina and the Welcome Centre by 6pm today.
Meanwhile, organisers of the Isle of Man Festival have distanced themselves from a public relations firm after an unauthorised statement was put out by the company.
Earlier today, London-based Impressive PR claimed the festival’s Twitter account had been hit by hackers – only for organisers to post a denial minutes later.
Shortly after that, the festival said the PR firm was not acting on its behalf.
The spat involves a statement attributed to Chris Heyes of Rockingmann Events which was published on the Music Week News website.
According to the official Twitter feed, the statement hadn’t been authorised by Mr Heyes and was put out by the PR firm which was acting for one of the festival’s sponsors.
The Isle of Man Festival demanded the magazine remove the story.
