Andreas find part of a Viking hoard!

Three items found in an Andreas field were part of a Viking hoard.

It was confirmed at a treasure trove inquest that a silver ingot, a cut silver ingot and part a decorative broach date back to between 930 and 980 AD.

They were unearthed at Ballaseyre Farm by 39 year-old Ramsey man Seth Crowe who was using a metal detector in April 2012.

Curator of Archeology at Manx National Heritage Alison Fox says it's a significant discovery:
