Prom work put to Tynwald

by isleofman.com 28th June 2013

Bids for more than ?3 million to improve the Island's roads and upgrade part of Douglas Promenade will be made in Tynwald next month.

Infrastructure minister David Cretney will seek approval to spend more than ?1.6 million on the first phase of a scheme to transform the prom, from the Sea Terminal to Regent Street.

He'll also ask for an additional ?1.7 million to add to the highways improvement budget - as part of a strategic programme.

And the minister will outline why an estimated ?650,000 needs to be spent on refurbishing Ramsey Swing Bridge.

Funding for the bridge and promenade schemes was earmarked in this year's Manx budget .

Mr Cretney will table motions formally seeking funding approval for all three projects at the final Tynwald sitting of the year on 9 July.
