Governor misses out on the action

by isleofman.com 29th June 2013

The Lieutenant Governor missed a dramatic lifeboat rescue by minutes after he joined the Peel crew on a routine excericse last night (Friday).

Adam Wood was on board the Ruby Cleary to see the Peel RNLI volunteers practice rescuing one of their crew from rocks near Glen Maye.

Shortly after the governor left and the lifeboat returned to the station, the alarm was raised on a real rescue.

A 40 foot yacht Eravel3 based at Brest in northern France had developed engine trouble while moored in Peel bay and was unable to escape a heavy swell.

Out went the Ruby Cleary again to tow the yacht with four people on board, back to safety.
