Island to honour armed forces

by isleofman.com 30th June 2013

Ex service personnel and veterans, including 10 serving marines and a Manx royal naval officer, will be among those marching along the capital’s promenade this afternoon (Sunday) as the Island marks Armed Forces Day.

The public is expected to show its appreciation and reflect the debt of gratitude owed to the military.

The parade sets off at 3pm to the Villa Marina for a service before the day culminates in afternoon tea and an evening of entertainment at which young people mingle with veterans.

Chairman of the armed forces day committee, Brigadier Norman Butler, says the commemorations mean a lot to all those involved.
