Civil registry offices to close

by isleofman.com 3rd July 2013
The Island’s to lose three regional civil registry offices in the North, South and West.

Director of Public Services at the General Registry Carol Dowd says the moves are driven by modernisation rather than cost-cutting, although she says some money will be saved.

It’ll mean the office in Ramsey Town Hall will close in September, the one in Castle Rushen shuts in December and Peel’s will shut next March.

Anyone who wants to register births, deaths, civil marriages and civil partnerships will have to travel to Douglas to do so.

All affected staff have been told, and no jobs will be lost.
