by isleofman.com 3rd July 2013

Fire crews from Douglas Fire Station yesterday, 2nd July, responded to a chemical spillage at the Mount Murray Hotel complex.

On arrival it was discovered that 2 chemicals had been accidently mixed together causing a reaction that produced chlorine gas.  Fire crews evacuated the occupants of affected areas to a place of safety away from the contaminate area and guided by the Public Analyst crews wearing chemical protection suits removed the contained solution from the plant room.  The solution was made safe and the building ventilated before members of the public where allowed to re-enter premises. Paramedics transported 3 casualties to hospital suffering from the effects of chlorine gas inhalation.
