Seven petitions at Tynwald ceremony

Tynwald day petitioners are waiting to see if any member of the Manx parliament will take up their cause.
Seven petitions for redress of grievance were presented at yesterday's (Fri) open air ceremony in St John's.
It's an individual's age-old right to seek help in resolving a grievance from those who make the nation's laws.
But those bids go nowhere unless a petition is picked up by a member of Tynwnald.
Issues raised include calls for a review of the handling of complaints against the health service and greater controls over planning conditions.
Pre school education and redress for buyers of defective properties also featured.
Ballasalla resident David McWilliams called on government to consult with vulnerable groups before imposing welfare cuts:
