Third consecutive defeat for Island at ICC champs

by isleofman.com 9th July 2013

The Isle of Man have lost again at the ICC European Division One Championship in Sussex.

They were beaten by Germany by five wickets this afternoon.

Batting first, the Isle of Man ended on 122-9.

Phil Littlejohns top scored again, making 35 off 27 balls, while Ollie Webster hit 28 off 28 balls.

Although not a particularly high total, things had looked promising for the Island as they reduced Germany to 48-4 off nine overs.

That changed dramatically once Nafees Ahmad came to the crease.

He smashed 48 off 27 balls, including two fours and five sixes.

Ahmad was eventually caught by Luke Lacey, off the bowling of Max Stokoe, but by then the victory was all but guaranteed.

Germany reached their target with four overs, and five wickets, to spare.
