by isleofman.com 10th July 2013
The Department of Education is putting up the cost of school meals.
As of September, the school meals service at primary schools will cost ?2, rather than ?1.95.
The 2.5 per cent increase is higher than the government’s figure for the Consumer Price Index, which it links to benefits and pensions rises and stood at 1.6 per cent in June.
Families on Jobseeker’s Allowance, Employed Person’s Allowance or Income Support receive free school meals, and won’t be affected by the increase.
