School’s nearly out for the summer and Manx National Heritage invites all budding athletes to take part in their traditional sports day event in the spectacular setting of Peel Castle on Sunday 14 July from 2pm - 5pm.
The event has been designed with the family in mind and will feature classics such as the egg ‘n’ spoon, the sack race, the three legged race, the wheel barrow race and, of course, everyone’s favourite – the sprint! Each event will be organised by age group and budding athletes simply have to sign up during the afternoon to compete.
This year a kite flying competition has been included in the programme and competitors should bring their kites to the event to compete.
Suzanne Williams, Heritage Site Manager for Manx National Heritage, commented:
“Who doesn’t love a sack race and the good old egg ‘n’ spoon? And what better place to fly a kite than Peel Castle! The event is for all ages, shapes and sizes. Bring your whole family, a picnic, a kite and enjoy a jolly good afternoon in the sun - if it shines!”
The ‘Peel Castle O’Limpets Sports Day Spectacular’ is a weather dependent event, please call (01624) 648090 or visit www.manxnationalheritage.im on the day if it’s raining.
Standard admission applies at Peel Castle, with free entry for ACE cardholders kindly supported by Lloyds TSB, season pass holders and members of the Friends of Manx National Heritage.
