Move towards women bishops 'unstoppable'

by isleofman.com 10th July 2013
The Island's bishop says the move towards women bishops in the Church of England is now unstoppable.

Bishop Robert Paterson has been speaking in the wake of a 79 per cent vote across the board in Synod this week in favour of the move.

Less than 73 per cent of Synod members voted 'yes' to the change when the matter was last debated in November 2012.

Although the growth in support's being seen as a step forward in the cause of women bishops, a majority has yet to be achieved in the House of Laity - so further votes are still needed at Synod in future.

But Bishop Robert says the direction of travel is well and truly set:Clip 1
