by isleofman.com 11th July 2013
A day after he had urine hurled at him by angry spectators, Manxman Mark Cavendish has just missed out on a stage win at the Tour de France.

He was beaten to the line by Germany's Marcel Kittel.

Cavendish missed out on the 45 points for the stage win but collected 35 points for finishing second to move up to second place in the Green Jersey standings.

Third placed Peter Sagan leads the sprinters’ classification by 96 points.

Chris Froome remains the overall race leader, with an advantage of three minutes and 25 seconds.
