Public service broadcasting committee hears further evidence

A select committee’s heard Manx Radio should have more governors and be further away from the Treasury when it comes to budgets.

Today, the secretary-general of the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association, Sally-Ann Wilson, gave evidence to a three-strong committee about public service broadcasting.

She praised Manx Radio as the voice of the Island, and said the station plays a role in promoting the culture of the Isle of Man.

But she said receiving funding direct from Treasury can cast a shadow over editorial independence:
