Safe cycling event for Ramsey

by isleofman.com 14th July 2013
Recent serious accidents and near misses involving child cyclists in Ramsey have prompted the town's police to put on a safety event next weekend.
The Ramsey Safe Cycling Challenge is being held in Mooragh Park a week today, (Sun 14th) from 12.30pm to 3pm.
Officers say the aim of the day is for riders to meet 'Bike Doctor' Steve Parker from the Outdoors Ramsey cycle shop, rather than a real doctor.
Dr Steve will be on hand to offer advice on how to keep your bike in top condition.
There will also be three challenges on the day; who can ride the slowest, who can complete a slalom course in the safest manner, and Highway Code knowledge, with prizes being awarded in two age groups; primary school children and secondary school children.
Sergeant Vinny Lund says with the school summer holidays coming up it's an ideal opportunity for young cyclists to hone their skills in a fun way.
