Ballakilley breakthrough

by isleofman.com 15th July 2013
The best deal that could be reached.

That's Rushen MHK Phil Gawne's belief after he and his two fellow Rushen MHKs released a statement backing a proposed development at Ballakilley.

Previously, the politicians and other members of the Ballakilley Working Group had opposed the plans arguing the scheme would not include a definite promise of recreational facilities for the community.

However, Mr Gawne says they had to accept the decision had been taken to develop the area so entered into protracted talks with Heritage Homes.

Whilst there are around 50 more houses than he would like to see on the site, there is now space for sports and leisure pursuits and Mr Gawne hopes the local community will now back the plans.

It's hoped the plans will go on display on Saturday (July 20) at Ballafesson Hall.Clip 1
