by isleofman.com 15th July 2013

The Legion Players Drama Society have won the 2013 BAWF with their play ‘Kecks’ by John Chambers.

Each year, the British All Winners Festival showcases the very best of British amateur theatre in a week-long celebration of theatre. Drama Groups which have won Full Length or One Act Member Festivals during the preceding 12 months are eligible for invitation by the National Drama Festivals Association (NDFA) to take part. The Legion Players, who won the Isle of Man One Act Festival in February this year, were invited to participate in this years BAWF.  Competing against 8 other One Act Plays by teams from across the British Isles, the Legion Players performed at the Carlton Theatre, Teignmouth. The Festival ran from 07 - 13 July 2013.

The play is set in an up-market lingerie shop in Manchester. Karen (played by Pia Galante) and her Mother ‘Petula’ (played by Stephanie Gray) are having a girls day out in town, buying ‘something special’ for Karen to wear on her wedding night. However, it is not only the underwear that is revealing. The conversation between Mother and Daughter exposes more than Karen wishes to hear about her parents’ married life, and more than Petula ever wanted to know about her Daughter.

The Legion Players will next week perform there latest production, James and the Giant Peach at the Gaiety theatre. For more information visit: www.giantpeach.im.
