Isle of Man Constabulary to launch Volunteer Cadet Scheme

by isleofman.com 17th July 2013

The Isle of Man Constabulary is launching recruitment for volunteer Police Cadets.

PC Michael Griffith’s – Cadet Coordinator explained:

“The Constabulary is seeking to recruit volunteer cadets to commence in September this year. This exciting new role will be similar in nature to the other cadet schemes operating on the Island. Cadets will gain an insight into the Constabulary and the workings of the Police service in a coordinated and safe way. This presents unique opportunity for young people to work in structured environment and gain life skills at the same time.”

Inspector Mark Britton of the Central Neighbourhood Policing Team added:

“This scheme will add to our commitment to the Community Policing of the Isle of Man. Initially the scheme will be based in Douglas and there is already some interest with 23 students undertaking work experience in the coming weeks. There were 50 applicants for this work with the schools. The commitment of the Constabulary to working with young people means that we hope that this Cadet scheme will be a vibrant and enjoyable activity.”
