There’s a by-election in the capital today.
Four candidates are vying for the vacant seat in St George’s Ward on Douglas Borough Council.
It’s available after Chris Thomas was elected West Douglas MHK in a Keys by-election at the end of May.
For three of the candidates, elections are nothing new.
George Campbell and Kevin Oliphant Smith are bidding for office for the third time, after missing out in corporation elections last year.
After narrowly being pipped for a place in the House of Keys at the 2006 General Election, David Buttery is changing his focus from national to local politics.
Anne Corlett has long-standing family links. Both her mother Glenda and late father Billy were councillors and former Mayors.
Polls are open from eight o'clock until 8pm.
The polling stations are All Saint's Church Hall and St. George's Parish Centre and the count this evening is at Douglas Town Hall.
