Ballakermeen High School is launching a new rewards system in September with the generous support of local businesses, notably Manx Telecom, Laser Mayhem and Sure. The Vivomiles reward system has been developed to help improve students’ performance, and consequently the overall results of schools. Ballakermeen has adopted the scheme to help encourage students to obtain the best possible results in all areas of school activity.
Vivo is an online rewards system which all students, teachers and parents can log in to at any time. It works by giving students the opportunity to trade in ‘Vivos’ which they have saved in exchange for goods in the online shop.
This rewards system encourages the students to perform at their best via an online points system, similar to traditional ‘gold stars’. Vivos are awarded for positive achievements both inside and outside the classroom. Students collect points which can then be redeemed in the online shop or donated to an appointed charity.
Manx Telecom has offered considerable support to the new scheme by donating devices, top-up cards, gift vouchers, experiential rewards and more. Manx Telecom’s Marketing Communications Manager, Voirrey Barron said: ‘We are absolutely delighted to onboard from the outset. The new reward scheme is very dynamic and we’re certain it will prove hugely engaging for students and parents alike.’
Ballakermeen Head Teacher, Mrs Adrienne Burnett, said: ‘ We are very excited about the new reward scheme, which we are sure the students will love. We are very grateful to companies like Manx Telecom for their generous support of this initiative, which we are confident will help improve the performance of our students. We are also delighted that the online scheme allows parents to have an insight into the individual achievements of their children.
