Market Street Closure

by isleofman.com 22nd July 2013
The Department would like to notify drivers of an upcoming closure of Market Street and Nelson Street in Douglas for essential re-surfacing works to the carriageway.

The re-surfacing work will take place from the northern boundary of the Marks and Spencer building to the junction with Victoria Street.  An evening only road closure has been planned between 6.00pm until 12.00 midnight in order to try and minimise the disruption to the travelling public.   Traffic flow will be as normal during the day.

The road closures will operate from 29th July until 12th August each evening or until the surfacing work is completed, whichever is the earlier.

The Department would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by these works.

Minister David Cretney MHK said today ‘This is a high profile much used part of roadway and these works are long overdue.  The carriageway outside Marks and Spencer is a patchwork quilt and very uneven area, and I am delighted we are able to undertake these works.’
