Contract for fitness to work assessments to be awarded soon

A long-term contract to carry out fitness-for-work assessments in the Isle of Man is due to be awarded later this month (July).
Six companies from on and off-Island have tendered for a three year contract to provide work capability assessments on benefit claimants.
It comes after UK firm Atos was engaged by the Department of Social Care for a pilot scheme seven months ago.
Last week social care minister Chris Robertshaw told a Tynwald scrutiny committee one third of those assessed by Atos were on the right benefit while a third had returned to work.
But the minister said another third needed further or different support from the state.
He says the aim is to ensure help goes to those who need it most:
