Department of Community, Culture and Leisure Minister Graham Cregeen MHK has congratulated the Isle of Man team on its victory in the NatWest Island Games held in Bermuda last week (13-19 July 2013).

The Island’s 85-strong team topped the medals table with 36 gold, 36 silver and 25 bronze medals ahead of hosts Bermuda who finished on 27 golds and third placed Jersey with 23 gold medals.

Minister Cregeen, whose remit includes responsibility for sports development and facilities, commented: ‘I want to congratulate the Isle of Man team for their brilliant success in Bermuda – they did us proud. Everyone at DCCL and I am sure many people across the Island are thrilled for them.

‘I know their success was the culmination of many years of hard work, both by the dedicated athletes and also the many coaches, managers and fund raisers whose efforts all contributed to this victory.

‘Medals were won in a wide range of sports and it reinforces the message that the Isle of Man is great at many sports. I would like to say a huge well done to all involved.’
