More than 600 people visited ‘Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry’ - a transformed-for-the-day King William’s College - on Sunday July 14th for a magical charity event in aid of Junior Achievement Isle of Man.
Many arrived by Hogwarts Express and the Knight Bus for the Harry Potter-themed* day that included potions and care of magical creatures classes, a sorting hat ceremony, wand-making, the Wizard Chess Master, face painting and an opportunity to meet ‘Dolores Umbridge’ in her office.
Junior Achievement’s Sue Cook said: ‘The day was a tremendous success. The sun shone, every ticket was sold and many visitors - adults as well as children - really entered into the spirit of things by coming dressed as their favourite Harry Potter character.
‘Thanks to the tremendous enthusiasm and hard work of the many volunteers who came forward to help and all the team at Junior Achievement every visitor entered a fantastical world and enjoyed a truly magical experience.
‘2013 is the second year we have held the event so “Harry” and his colleagues won’t be making an appearance in 2014. But the success of these charity days is already inspiring us for our blockbuster event in 2014…so watch this space.’
*Warner Bros. Entertainment and J.K. Rowling were not responsible for the event but kindly granted Junior Achievement Isle of Man permission to use the HARRY POTTER® trade mark and other materials.
