Bodies of two local men found at sea

by isleofman.com 27th July 2013
The bodies of two local men, both in their late 60s, have been found off the west coast of the Island.

It follows a major search which lasted more than 12 hours after two fishermen failed to return home from a fishing trip off Blue Point, north of Ramsey, on Friday afternoon.

A 16 foot capsized dinghy had been discovered at 6am this morning (Saturday).

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of the bodies and no formal identification has yet taken place.

Police are with the families of the men and have been kept up to date with the search efforts.

They’re thanking the general public and, in particular, local fishing boats that assisted in the search, along with the coastguard, lifeboats from Ramsey, Peel, and Port Patrick and air support from RAF Valley and the West Midlands Maritime and Coastguard Agency.

An investigation is being carried out on behalf of the Coroner of Inquests.
