The IOM Cancer Services User Forum has recently published the latest version of their information booklet ‘Understanding Cancer Services in the Isle of Man’. The booklet is an essential guide for anyone affected by cancer, providing key information about local services that can be of support.
This is the third edition of the booklet, which was originally launched in 2005. It has been written by people who have had a personal experience of cancer themselves, and provides the key information that they feel is important once someone has received a cancer diagnosis.
The cost of printing this edition of the booklet has kindly been sponsored by local charity IOM Anti-Cancer Association.
The booklet is part of the pack of information people should receive when they are given a cancer diagnosis on the Island. IOM Anti-Cancer Association has also sponsored the blue plastic wallets that hold this information in one handy place. If you would like to get hold of a copy of the User Forum booklet ‘Understanding Cancer Services in the Isle of Man’, please contact the Macmillan Cancer Information Centre at Noble’s Hospital on 650735.
The IOM Cancer Services User Forum is made up of people who have had a personal experience of cancer and their carers; they work closely with the cancer charities on the Island and the Department of Health. For more information about the User Forum, please contact 498612, email csuf@manx.net or visit their Facebook page.
IOM Anti-Cancer Association is involved in various projects on the Island, such as the Staywell Clinic (Cervical Screening), Psycho-Oncology Service (psychology & counselling specifically for people affected by cancer), and cancer awareness on Manx Radio. We also raise money to fund research into cancer, its causes and its treatment; and fund equipment at Hospitals in the UK who provide treatment to Manx patients. You can find out more about the Association, by contacting 252725, email IOMAnticancer@gmail.com or visiting www.iomaca.org.im.
