The Young Magicians of Mann enjoyed a magical treat last week when Irish professional magician and illusionist Pat Fallon delivered a lecture and workshop supported by the Isle of Man Arts Council. The visit was arranged by the Magicians of Mann, a separate club for adults. They very kindly invited the enthusiastic young magicians to go along. Chairman of the adult club, Paul Martin explained “We arrange a small number of lectures by professional magicians each year, and this was a great opportunity to learn from a Member of the Inner Magic Circle (Gold Star). Pat Fallon is a brilliant lecturer, and he shared some of his vast experience of performing magic around the world. He included magical effects suitable for all ages and a wide range of venues.”
Founder of the Young Magicians of Mann, Mike Clague, added “Pat really involved the members and the evening was both educational and entertaining. He told us later that he really enjoyed his very brief, but wonderful visit to our beautiful island and for the outstanding hospitality that he received. We’re very pleased that the youngsters could attend and the support of the IOM Arts Council is a terrific help to small clubs such as ours.” The Young Magicians of Mann have been meeting and performing locally for over 25 years, and can be seen at the Erin Arts Centre’s Afternoon Tea on 5th August as well as the Crossroads Care Garden Party at Crogga the following Saturday. They recently staged four shows at the enormously popular Junior Achievement’s Harry Potter Day at King William’s College.
The Young Magicians of Mann meet at the Youth Arts Centre in Douglas on Wednesday evenings during term time, and further information can be found on their website www.ymom.info or by contacting Mike Clague on 878328.
