Hospice Isle of Man was absolutely delighted to receive a very generous donation from the Dr Scholl Foundation to allow the local charity to purchase a new mini bus to transport their patients.
The Hospice minibus is used on a daily basis for patient care, predominantly to transport patients in and out of The Hospice’s Scholl Centre, the charity’s day unit.
The bus is also used for various patient trips and to transport patients from home to hospice for appointments’ such as aromatherapy breathe easy and lymphodema appointments.
Occasionally patients from the inpatient unit are transferred home if required.
Sir Miles Walker, chairman of Hospice commented : “The Hospice minibus is an integral component to the services that the Hospice provides. The donation from the Dr Scholl Foundation will allow us to offer this vital service to all patients, irrespective of their level of ability. We’d like to thank the Foundation for their kind donation.”
Sir Miles continued: “Our previous bus was sponsored by the Lisa Lowe Foundation and was over 10 years old so we are very grateful for their previous support too.” “It had served us well.”
Chief Executive for Hospice, Margaret Simpson thanked Susan Scholl representing the Dr Scholl Foundation, David Quayle from Athol Garage and Renee Caley, representing the Steam Packet for all their efforts to help Hospice obtain its new bus. She added her appreciation to Sign Rite for their support with the beautiful blue and yellow artwork on the side of the bus.
