Magical Challenge

by isleofman.com 5th August 2013

An unusual magical challenge faced the Magicians of Mann at their recent meeting at the Columba Club in Douglas. The occasion was a competition for the ‘Chairman’s Challenge Trophy’. This year the challenge set by chairman Paul Martin was to devise a magical effect based on breakfast cereal! Keith Greenland, Chris Burns and Mike Daniels accepted the challenge and demonstrated some brilliant innovative magic. After much deliberation, the chairman awarded the trophy to Mike Daniels for his amazing prediction effect.

The trophy itself, made by member John Cain from Peel, is equally unusual. It is a glass wine bottle containing a full pack of cards, sealed and in new pack order, together with other magic items. How he put the pack into the bottle remains a closely guarded secret, and it will certainly be a topic of conversation on Mike Daniel’s shelf!

The Magicians of Mann meet on the third Tuesday of each month at the Catholic Columba Club in Douglas. New members are made very welcome and anyone interested can contact secretary Mike Clague on 878328 or contact@ymom.info for information. Mike can also provide details of the Young Magicians of Mann, a separate magic club for 11 to 18 year olds that meets at the Youth Arts Centre in Douglas on Wednesday evenings.
