The Department of Economic Development has amended the proposed race day schedule for Saturday 24th August following consultation with the Department of Infrastructure.

The revised schedule will now see the roads close at 12 noon on Saturday 24th August rather than the original 2pm.  This will allow the full schedule to be completed by 6pm rather than running into the early evening as was originally proposed unless unexpected delays occur.

The new timetable will see the eagerly anticipated 500cc Classic TT race kick off the day's action at 12.45pm. This will now be followed by qualifying sessions for a number of the Manx Grand Prix races at 3.15pm.

At 4.15pm the '67 Senior TT parade featuring Giacomo Agostini and John McGuinness is scheduled to leave the Grandstand followed by the VMCC's parade lap. The roads are scheduled to open again by 6pm unless this programme of events is unavoidably delayed when the roads may remain closed until 9pm.

Commenting on the revised schedule Laurence Skelly, MHK, Political Member with responsibility for Tourism and Motorsport commented:

‘We have been working with our colleagues in the Department of Infrastructure to achieve a timetable that allows a full and comprehensive race schedule while also minimising town centre traffic at peak periods.’

‘We are very grateful for their assistance and can now look forward to what is already proving to be a hugely popular Classic TT race festival in its inaugural year as well as supporting the Manx Grand Prix riders efforts in the event's 90th anniversary.’

‘The necessary changes to the road closure timetable are required to facilitate the ongoing development of the prestigious Isle of Man Festival of Motorcycling. The new racing schedule developed by the Department of Economic Development will ensure a successful festival for participants, spectators and will minimise the impact on the travelling public.’
