Darts star Andy ‘The Viking’ Fordham will be the host of the Playoff that determines which local players compete in The Isle of Man Darts Classic.
The event will be held on the 9th August at the Crescent in Douglas, with Fordham comparing the event and giving a darts showcase during the evening. Starting at 7pm, it will give fans a taste of the atmosphere they will get on the 28th September.
The event is free to attend and the evening will include a charity raffle for Oskar’s Dreams as well as the darts matches. Video streaming to screens around the venue will mean that a good view the darts is available for all. The event is open to all over 16’s.
Four qualifying events have occurred over the last month leaving eight players fighting for the four spots in September’s tournament where they will line up against the professionals.
On the 9th August the players will be drawn randomly in head to head games, best of 7 x 501 with double finish. They are only one game away from lining up against one of the four professionals, Phil Taylor, Michael van Gerwen, James Wade and Simon Whitlock.
The eight remaining challengers are: Colin Tyrer, Aaron Bradley, Dave Western, Wayne Harrison, Paul Palmer, Paul Kelly, Ian Fields and Patty Lindsay.
The winners not only progress to the final tournament but also win a place in the UK and Ireland Poker Tour stage held in the Isle of Man, worth ?1,100 courtesy of headline sponsor Pokerstars. The unsuccessful players will walk away with a pair of tickets for the Darts final.
The Villa Marina will host the final tournament, which brings four of the world’s top players to the island. Tickets are available through iomdarts.bfig.co.uk or through the Villa Gaiety website.
