Planning appeal fee defended

The introduction of a fee for appealing planning decisions has been defended by the chairman of Planning and Building Control.
Rushen MHK Laurence Skelly says the ?150 charge is reasonable compared to other jurisdictions, and will be refunded if the appeal is successful, which doesn't happen elsewhere.
He says administration costs have to be covered somehow, adding that currently around one fifth of the 1,600 applications processed every year are appealed:
