Douglas RNLI lifeboat volunteer crew members were called back to the station just after 2.00pm on Saturday afternoon (10th August) to assist a local vessel that had broken down.
The RNLI all-weather lifeboat Sir William Hillary was launched under the command of volunteer coxswain Neal Corran to go to the aid of a local vessel with 2 crew and 7 other people on board which had broken down just off Port Soderick, south of Douglas.
The casualty vessel was found and taken under tow back to Douglas and berthed at the Visitor’s Pontoon on the Battery Pier to discharge its passengers. After reporting to Coastguards that everybody was alright the lifeboat returned the casualty vessel to its regular mooring in the harbour.
Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer with the RNLI as lifeboat crew, shore helper, or fundraiser should contact their nearest lifeboat station.
