Energy Award Winners 2013 Announced

The winners of the Energy Awards 2013 were announced at this weekend’s Energy Expo, which was held as part of the Royal Manx Agricultural Show.

Awards were presented in three categories for both the public and private sector. The winners were:

Best Practice (private sector) – MHA Lighting for St Mary’s Court project Best Innovation (private sector) – Complete Construction Services and Stroma NX for Ballingan Farm project Biggest Saving (private sector) – Isle of Man Creamery

Best Practice (public sector) – Manx Electricity Authority Best Innovation (public sector) – Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture Biggest Saving (public sector) – Isle of Man Water & Sewerage Authority

Highly Commended – Stroma NX and Hands of Hope charity for Romanian project

Laurence Skelly MHK presented the awards on behalf of the Department of Economic Development. He commented:

‘I’d like to congratulate the winners of the Energy Awards and also thank all those organisations who participated in the Awards.

‘This year’s entries have provided some great examples of innovative thinking that have resulted in significant energy savings and reduced energy bills.’

Dr Ken Milne, Senior Manager for Energy Policy added:

‘This was the fifth year of the Energy Awards and they recognise the achievements of local businesses and public sector organisations in reducing their energy consumption and improving the efficiency of their organisations.  The Isle of Man now has over 60 trained Energy Champions within local businesses and over 60 within Government Departments.

‘We would be delighted to hear from any organisation which wishes to nominate an individual to receive energy efficiency training and become an Energy Champion. Interested parties can contact the Department on 01624 682367.’
