There were shocks in the Standard Bank Premiership yesterday (Sunday) when the top two sides were both beaten.

Leaders Cronkbourne scored 199 for eight at Ramsey but the home club fought back to win the match with 200 for 7. Ollie Webster made 96 not out.

Peel and St John’s made a good start to their innings against Castletown with openers Mark Walker cracking 55 and Akkie van den Berg 43.

However, both were dismissed by Andrew Ronan who went on to take six wickets for 35 to scuttle the Saints for 167.

The Town then made 168 for eight to win by two wickets. Jack Newberry hit 40 and Mark Williams 37 not out.

At Tromode, Crosby reached 202 for six with 60 from Martyn Oates. Valkyres replied with 164 for nine, Rob Weight scoring 49.
