Renal services expand

The Department of Health says it can treat more people with kidney problems after expanding services in Douglas and Ramsey.

Ramsey Cottage Hospital has a new unit thanks to a charitable donation, while Noble’s Hospital’s capacity for renal patients has been increased.

It means for the first time people on holiday in the Isle of Man can be given dialysis as well as local residents.

Consultant nephrologist Dr Matthew Todd says it’s an area that’s been in high demand in recent years:
