by isleofman.com 12th August 2013

The Island's capital will soon have 25 solar-powered bins which could also work as wifi hotspots.

The devices which compress waste are to be leased from a UK company for more than ?27,000.

Leader of Douglas Council David Christian says the compression allows the bins to need 80% less emptying so overall the council will make savings.
