Douglas Borough Council has won a quality safety award from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
The local authority received the award for achieving level one status under the RoSPA QSA (Quality Safety Audit) programme after it submitted its health and safety management systems across all its sites to independent scrutiny by the UK’s leading accident prevention charity.
Council Leader Councillor David Christian MBE JP said: ‘To be recognised by such an august body as RoSPA is tremendous news. To have achieved external accreditation is testimony to the hard work and commitment of our HR team and the vigilance with which all our people across every function observe health and safety procedures.
‘Winning this award demonstrates the Council’s strong safety culture and socially responsible attitude to its employees and its customers. It also comes in the same year as we were awarded two Green Flags at the first attempt for our parks and gardens, so I am delighted that once again Douglas has been identified as a beacon of excellence.’
