by isleofman.com 14th August 2013

In true tradition, the first event of Ramsey’s recent annual ‘Golf Week’, the 20th annual Mann Link Travel AM-AM tournament, produced some spectacular results.

All of the teams finishing in the Top 3 completed their rounds considerably under par. The winners – Steve Taylor, Bob Baggaley, George Lawson and Tony Scambler – finished with a score of 121, 19 under par.

Runners-up were Mann Link Travel’s Operations Director, Ian Liddle, and his team mates Seymour Corkill, Tony Kelly and Barry Teare, who finished 14 under par with a score of 126. In third place were Charlie Garside, Andy Nicholson, Neil Atkinson and Mike Nicholson who finished with a score of 128, 12 under par.

Forty-three teams, comprising of 172 players, competed in the Mann Link Travel AM-AM tournament, which is the company’s longest-standing Island sponsorship. Part of the Online Regional Travel Group – the largest offshore travel group in the British Isles – Mann Link Travel is headquartered in the Isle of Man. It has two retail shops – Mann Link Ramsey and Richmond Travel in Douglas – as well as its dedicated Business Travel Centre on Athol Street in the capital.

Mann Link Travel’s Chief Executive, Brian Kelly, himself a keen golfer and a participant in the event, commented: “The conditions and course set up were perfect for shooting low scores, and it was pleasing to see such a large entry. It’s fantastic to see how the Mann Link Travel AM-AM tournament has developed since we began sponsoring it 20 years ago and it’s the perfect way to begin the very popular week of golf at Ramsey. I’d like to thank all those who took part and look forward to sponsoring the event for many more years to come.”
